About Us

Our Current Members

HHPB was formed in 2019 by Victory residents who sought to create an inclusive and enjoyable environment centered around the sport of pickleball. Our group promotes fun, health, and social engagement for players of all skill levels—while also fostering camaraderie and friendships over a well-earned drink after the game. Today, HHPB consists of approximately 40 active members, ranging from 2.5 to 4.0+ skill levels, many of whom participate in the Arizona Pickleball Players League (APPL), USA Pickleball sponsored tournaments, and are also members of the Victory Pickleball Club (VPC). Our members are actively involved in VPC coordinated pickleball programs.

How we got started

In the early days, open play was encouraged, and pickleball participation grew in an atmosphere of respect and fun. Being mindful of our group’s impact on court availability, HHPB made a concerted effort to schedule play sessions during off-peak hours, ensuring minimal disruption to other residents. For six years, our group has consistently played on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1:00–3:00 PM in the fall/winter and from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM in the spring/summer, when seasonal residents have left, and morning demand has decreased.

What we do

The Happy Hour Pickleball Club (HHPB) has been an active part of the Victory community for more than six years, fostering a devoted and enthusiastic membership. Beyond the game itself, HHPB has cultivated strong and lasting friendships among its players, extending to their spouses and families through social gatherings and events. The steady increase in new member interest further underscores that HHPB continues to meet the needs and interests of Victory residents.

Not just a "Men's Club"

Yes, at first glance it may look like a “Men’s Club,” but that was never the intent. The club developed organically through word of mouth, and it just so happened that many of the early participants were men who found the club especially inviting. There were a couple of key reasons

:

  1. Ease of entry – No prior Pickleball experience was needed. More skilled players consistently welcomed and mentored newcomers.
  2. Social connection – The club’s post-match mixers created a space where like-minded individuals — especially those who may be less socially inclined — could connect, share stories, and build meaningful friendships.

With the club’s growing recognition, this is a perfect opportunity for more women in the Victory community to get involved. We believe the camaraderie and support that have made the club so special are open to everyone, and we’re excited to welcome new members who want to be part of that experience.
